Should You Visit an Emergency Dentist or the Emergency Room?
Emergency dentists and emergency rooms are two categories of medical facilities offering emergency care. However, they serve different purposes when it comes to dental emergencies.
Emergency dentists are dental professionals who specialize in providing immediate care for dental emergencies. They are equipped to handle multiple dental conditions, including toothaches, chipped or broken teeth, knocked-out teeth, abscesses, and other dental emergencies. They have more knowledge and expertise in dental procedures.
On the other hand, emergency rooms are general medical facilities equipped to handle various medical emergencies, including dental ones. While they may have some dental equipment, they are not typically equipped to provide specialized dental care, such as root canals or tooth extractions. Usually, they only offer pain relief and refer patients to an emergency dentist for follow-up care.
