Why Do We Recommend Early Screening of Oral Cancer?
How Does Our Team Proceed with Oral Cancer Screening?
The procedure used by our dentists for screening mouth cancer involves different examinations. Here are some of the steps involved in the screening process:
Medical History Review: Our dentist will begin by reviewing your medical history and discussing any risk factors for oral cancer, such as tobacco use, alcohol consumption, or previous exposure to the human papillomavirus (HPV).
Visual Examination: We will visually inspect your oral condition, including the lips, tongue, gums, cheeks, and mouth’s roof and floor, for any abnormalities or signs of cancer.
Physical Examination: Our team will use their hands to feel for any lumps, bumps, or other irregularities in your mouth, throat, and neck.
Specialized Screening Tools: Some dentists may also use specialized screening tools, such as a light or dye, to help detect any suspicious areas that may be missed during a visual examination.
